In Mosul, Iraq Nawal takes care of her mother Samia, whose condition worsens as access to medicine becomes more difficult. Faced with illness, poverty and war, she manages to transform something problematic into something joyful, creating beauty where ugliness strikes. “I am trying to understand life by recording time, space and people”, says Angela Al Souliman, who received the VAF Wildcard for her film.
