March 21, 2026: Sadaka Tea – Gathering at Place de la Bourse at 5:30 PM

Saturday 21 March 2026 · 5:30 PM · Bourse Square

On Saturday, March 21, 2026, we will gather at Place de la Bourse for Sadaka Tea. This moment aims to continue the cultural and participatory momentum generated by the Molenbeek for Brussels 2030 candidacy for the title of European Capital of Culture 2030, and to highlight the importance of a strong cultural project for the future of the city.

“Sadaka Tea shows that the collective energy born from the Molenbeek for Brussels 2030 candidacy must continue to grow. Brussels needs an ambitious and shared cultural project for the future,” explain Fatima Zibouh and Jan Goossens, co-leads of MB2030.

A symbolic moment for Brussels

March 21 marks the first day of spring, a symbol of renewal. On the eve of the commemoration of the ten-year anniversary of the March 22 attacks, we want to collectively affirm that Brussels stands strong: united, resilient, and rich in cultural, linguistic, and social diversity.

After more than 600 days of political crisis in Brussels, our city needs a shared vision for the future more than ever.

We firmly believe that residents, artists, associations, and cultural initiatives play a key role in bringing Brussels back into motion.

Programme

📅 Saturday, March 21, 2026
📍 Place de la Bourse · Brussels

2:00 PM – Participatory writing workshop & collective installation

In preparation for the collective moment at 5:30 PM, everyone is invited to share wishes and dreams for an inclusive and shared future for Brussels. These contributions will form a collective scenography visible throughout the weekend at Place de la Bourse.

With Stef & Saif – two musicians from the Brussels-based participatory organisation “Leon”, where dance acts as a unifying force.

5:30 PM – Sadaka Tea – A convivial gathering

We invite everyone to join us at 5:30 PM for Sadaka Tea, a warm moment of shared tea, short speeches, and an artistic programme. A moment of generosity and listening, inspired by traditions where tea brings people together and fosters connection.

The artists featured in the programme were part of the candidacy:

  • Kaito Winse, a griot and musician developing a unique artistic language that connects his roots in Burkina Faso with international experiences and life in Brussels.
  • Mohamed El Bachiri, author of A Jihad of Love.
  • Kristin Verellen, who will create a circle with the audience through We Have the Choice.
  • Lisette Ma Neza, poet and performer, who held the title of Brussels City Poet over the past two years.
  • Tolon kè! – a dance concert by Serge Aimé Coulibaly & Faso Danse Théâtre. The title is a festive call: Tolon kè! – Let us rejoice! An ensemble of four dancers, accompanied by a singer-guitarist, presents a precise yet powerful choreography.

The event will end at 8:00 PM.
