A motivated group of dancers and musicians, brought together by Molenbeek’s bid to become European Capital of Culture in 2030, performed at MolenFest in Molenbeek. The programme included a dynamic and participatory show.

Few days before tomorrow is an artistic performance taking place as part of the Molenfest festival. The show was created by choreographer Serge-Aimé Coulibaly, a renowned Molenbeek native. The international premiere, presented by the Faso Danse company and MetX, took place on 3 September.

This participatory show brings together professional dancers and musicians with around fifty other amateur artists with the aim of creating a bond with the residents, but also with the audience. Rehearsals have been taking place since April to deliver a performance of the highest quality. Professional in every respect, the performance captivates everyone: ‘There’s something for everyone. If you come to see dance, you’ll see dance, and if you come to see humanity, the pulse of Molenbeek, you’ll find that in this show too,’ explains the choreographer.
The choice of the town square and its setting is far from random: the presence of the performance in this location sends a powerful political message. The show combines dance and speech, without turning a blind eye to ‘the reality of Molenbeek’.
The power of dance is combined with the MetX group, which offers a variety of musical styles for a dynamic collaboration.
Serge-Aimé Coulibaly explains: “It’s a project that questions and offers new perspectives for the future of Brussels and Molenbeek. Here, people from different backgrounds live together, but do we really live together and what do we share together?‘ He adds, ’This show dreams of the Brussels of tomorrow through dance, with bodies communicating and communing together.”
