What does marriage even mean to an 8-year-old kid? Or to someone who’s 80? What does it mean to pledge everlasting love to each other, or to take vows?
Mariage uses dance and novel traditions to create a unique celebration of togetherness. We kick off things off with a series of open ateliers. We end them with a real wedding party!
People are cordially invited to join the workshops on the Parvis Saint Jean-Baptist, where artists and volunteers help design a universal wedding party through dance, cooking, music and scenography. Every participant can pitch in: by helping to dress the set, by creating choreographies, by making costumes, or by preparing a delicious meal.
Mariage celebrates the bond between participants, communities and the public: its symbolic wedding becomes a festive tableau of connectedness, unity and diversity.
Leon is a nomadic workspace in Brussels that puts dance center stage. It focuses on the processes that precede the productions, because these provide the kernel of creative participation and powerful connection. At Leon, intergenerationality and inclusion are considered essential conditions to showcase dance in its most human and authentic form.
